Sale

Selling a business is not just another business transaction. It is a unique, strategic and often the most important step in the entrepreneurial journey, one that revolves around timing, preparation and an understanding of business operations and organization. Many business owners who come to us focus on the moment of the deal, but due to the hectic pace of everyday life, do not always recognize that preparation for sale begins well before that.

Not just tax-legal, but also in the durability of the business model and the quality of information. We often see this reflected during the due diligence process, where good information supply and the quality of profitability, processes and organization are paramount to a smooth passage through this phase. Getting your company ready to sell therefore requires good preparation and is often half the battle.

Analytical understanding is the key to a successful sale in this regard. It starts with understanding the reality behind the financial numbers: what are the drivers of profitability? What trends do you see in sales, costs, earnings, working capital and investments? But it continues on the business model. How does your company compare to the competition? Are customers tied to your brand or still dependent on personal relationships? And, crucially, where is the potential for growth that will allow you to convince a prospective
buyer with substantiation? How can we use the data to make that clear?

By looking at your company through the lens of a potential buyer and designing your management information accordingly, you can strengthen weaknesses and exploit opportunities. Think of a customer portfolio that is too one-sided, or processes that are too dependent on one person. These insights enable you to take steps now that will make your company more robust and more attractive to the market.

Getting ready to sell means not waiting for the perfect buyer, but actively building a business that is ready for the future-with or without you. It is often said for good reason that you should work on your business and not in it.

A successful sales process hinges on preparation and timing. Analytical insight is not just a tool, but an essential part of your strategy. Because the better you understand your numbers, the market and the potential, the stronger you will be when the time comes to sell. With the use of data-driven dashboards, this can be done quickly and efficiently nowadays. From Strategy to KPI!
